Banc Du Energy Park is a proposed onshore wind energy park, around 2km northwest of Llangurig. The proposal includes up to 6 turbines up to 200m in height, generating around 40MW of clean, green energy – enough to power approximately 38,000 homes every year.*
We’re committed to ensuring Banc Du Energy Park not only benefits the environment but also the local community. The park’s Community Benefit Fund would deliver up to approximately £300,000 to support groups, projects and places in the community.
Due to the large capacity of clean renewable energy the project could generate (greater than 10 megawatts), it is classified as a Development of National Significance (DNS). We’re working closely with Powys County Council, who will be preparing a Local Impact Report to ensure the community’s voice is heard throughout the process.
The site spans approximately 360 hectares. Much of the site consists of hilltop moorland and pockets of woodlands. The site is not located within any nationally or locally designated landscapes.
Since launching the project to the public in 2022, we have undertaken a thorough engagement process, starting with an initial (non-statutory) round of consultation with the public, followed by a second (statutory) consultation with the public during summer 2025. During this time, we:
Since then, we have carefully considered all feedback we received and submitted an application to PEDW.
