Progress so far:

Since launching the project to the public in autumn 2022, we have undertaken a thorough engagement process, starting with an initial (non-statutory) round of consultation with the public, followed by a second (statutory) consultation with the public in late spring and early summer 2024. During this time, we:

• Heard from 761 people (feedback across the entire period including consultations).
• Hosted six in-person events, plus one webinar – attended by 529 people.
• Consistently met with local groups and key representatives, around project updates and community benefit opportunities.

We’ve undertaken more detailed studies since then, and our designs have evolved following feedback from key stakeholders, the community, and landowners. We’d like to thank everyone for taking part.

In December 2024, we submitted our Development of National Significance (DNS) application to PEDW. In November 2025, the application was accepted, and PEDW progressed its five-week consultation. This was undertaken three times, with the most recent consultation closing on Friday 26 June 2026.

What’s next?

• We are given an opportunity to review our application further, in response to the feedback received during PEDW’s consultation (ending June 2026).
• PEDW will then confirm the date of the hearings which will give us an opportunity to provide evidence on how our proposals will deliver for the local communities, and Wales as a whole.
