Plans for Nant Ceiment Energy Park project to be withdrawn

We have today (26 February 2026) shared that we are withdrawing our proposal for an onshore wind project located around 5km south of Lampeter in Carmarthenshire, called Nant Ceiment Energy Park.  

The decision comes following a detailed review of the project which considered early survey and assessment data and Welsh planning policy requirements. An evaluation of this data determined that challenges to development at the site would have a significant impact on the energy park’s long-term viability. These include environmental, land and commercial challenges which are unique to Nant Ceiment Energy Park. 

Senior Project Manager Daniel Wills said: 

“Bute Energy is committed to bringing forward proposals of the highest standards, which not only adhere to Welsh Government planning policy, but benefit the local environment and communities in the long-term. 

“Our decision to withdraw our plans for Nant Ceiment Energy Park come following a review of the assessment and survey work carried out on site to date. This is an example of the Welsh planning system in action, ensuring that only the right and best applications progress to decision. 

“We’d like to extend our thanks everyone who has worked with us in the development of our proposals to date.”
