You said – we listened: Lan Fawr and Bryn Rhudd Energy Parks will move forward as one, single project now simply referred to as Lan Fawr Energy Park.
After our consultation in November 2025, where more than 470 people shared their views, we’ve taken time to review what you told us, carry out further surveys and assessments, and spoken to Planning Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW).
As a result, Lan Fawr and Bryn Rhudd Energy Parks will now move forward as a single energy park.
This combined energy park would include up to 55 wind turbines, generating around 368MW of clean energy. It could also provide a community benefit fund of around £2.75 million each year, subject to further work and future consultation.

Many of you told us that bringing the projects together would make plans clearer, and that’s reflected in this decision. We hope this next step makes it easier to understand the proposals as they develop

Why are Bryn Rhudd and Lan Fawr being merged into one energy park?
Bryn Rhudd and Lan Fawr are being brought together as one project because the development timescales for both sites have now aligned. This means we can use a single, consistent set of survey information across the whole area, making the process clearer and easier to follow.
It also reflects what we heard in earlier consultations, where local people and stakeholders already saw the two sites as a single project.
Does this mean the overall number of turbines is increasing or decreasing?
The total number of turbines will stay the same. No turbines are being added or removed because of this merger.
Will the layout change because of the merger?
The layout and development boundary won’t change from bringing the energy parks together. However, some details may still change as we continue to develop the plans.
Does this change the timelines for completion of the energy park?
No, bringing together the energy parks doesn’t change the overall timelines for delivery. The work required, the planning process, and the statutory consultation stages all remain the same.
What this does allow us to do is coordinate assessments and engagement with the public more efficiently. We can also use a single set of data for a joined-up approach.
Will the merger reduce, increase or change the value of the Community Benefit Fund?
Our Community Benefit Fund is based on committing £7,500 to the pot for every megawatt (MW) of total installed energy‑generation capacity, per year. The total value of the Community Benefit Fund will remain the same as we bring the two parks together into one, meaning the total Community Benefit Fund will remain at 2.75m annually for the lifetime of the energy park.
What are the plans for this energy park?
We’ve been working on ideas for Lan Fawr Energy Park for a while and our plans have evolved since we first started. We’re on a mission to decarbonise our energy system and this energy park will help us get there.
