Bute Energy champions inclusivity at Pride Cymru 2024

If you’re free on Saturday 22^nd June 2024, why not come and join Bute Energy at Pride Cymru’s 25 anniversary in Cardiff?

We’ll be walking the parade through Cardiff City Centre from 11am and you can also say hello at our stand at Cardiff Castle.

I got involved in the parade last year for the very first time. It coincided with Bute Energy’s first year as sponsor of Pride Cymru.

Being surrounded by the vibrant colours, joyous music and powerful messaging of unity was something else. It was a day that will live long in the memory and I cannot wait to be a part of it again this year.

Supporting parents at Bute Energy

Our people policies ensure we challenge and pull down any barriers that may exist.

We not only support colleagues on their parenting journey – but also those who are hoping to become parents.

Our policies support both parents, remove any gender typical language and make sure that colleagues get the right support. Ensuring colleagues receive paid leave means there’s one less thing to worry about, amid the sleepless nights and all the other changes at home.

Everyone should feel safe and confident

We have also put policies and company values in place that encourage a culture of inclusion. We want everyone to feel safe and confident so that they can raise the alarm if they come across any behaviour that isn’t inclusive.

I’ve been pretty busy these last few months here at Bute Energy, working on a Gender Diverse policy which is soon to be finalised. It sets out our commitment to ensure that all transgender and gender diverse colleagues are treated with dignity and respect and are, in no way, disadvantaged in the workplace. This policy will also provide guidance so that everyone is fully supported throughout any part of their gender identity/diversity journey.

We’ve spoken to some truly inspiring individuals throughout the UK and their experiences are shaping the way we work at Bute Energy. We’ve really valued their contributions which will ensure that all colleagues at Bute Energy feel safe, that they feel a sense of belonging and are able to thrive doing what they love.

We won’t get it right overnight

Of course, there’s always more we can do. We won’t get this right overnight. And that’s why we’ll continue to support colleagues and we’ll keep listening and evolving. It’s a journey for all of us.

Being part of Pride Cymru this weekend demonstrates this commitment.
