The Bute Energy U16’s Cup Final

Cardiff Wanderers lifted the Bute Energy U16s Cup on Sunday, with a hard fought 4-0 win over Kinmel Bay.

 

 

The Final

Played in the Spring sunshine at Newtown AFC’s Latham Park, the game was finely poised until first half injury time, when Alys-Fae Wilson gave Wanderers the lead with a well-taken finish.

Two quickfire goals from the impressive Jaymie-Rose Powell and another from Alys-Fae Wilson from the penalty spot put the game out of Kinmel Bay’s reach, but it was far from plain sailing for Wanderers as Kinmel Bay continued to ask questions of the Cardiff team’s defence over the full 80 minutes.

This is the first year Bute Energy have sponsored the U16s Cup, part of our wider partnership with the Football Association of Wales. With the quality of football on display and sizeable crowd in attendance, the future for women’s football in Wales is looking bright and we’re delighted to be playing our part in helping to empower and energise the game.

Beyond the Final

Congratulations to both teams for a fantastic final and to all the teams and clubs competing in this years Bute Energy U16’s Cup. There are some incredibly strong players competing across the tournament so making it to the final is a huge achievement.

Attention now moves to the Bute Energy Welsh Cup Final at Rodney Parade, where Cardiff City will meet Wrexham AFC on Sunday 5th May.
