Bute Energy Rallies Around Young Farmers in Radnorshire

We’re proud to announce our Cantal Young Farmers Rally Sponsorship – who will be hosting the 2024 Young Farmers Rally in Radnorshire, Mid Wales.

This significant youth event marks the first time in over 13 years that Cantal YFC has had the honour of hosting the rally. The event promises to bring together all 13 clubs under the Radnor Young Farmers Club (YFC) network, fostering unity and showcasing the spirit of the local farming community.

Our sponsorship will provide financial assistance to the club to key procurements for the rally but it also goes far beyond this. Our staff will be supporting the club at the event and a we also plan to highlight our involvement with discussions with the club on the topic of wind energy for future debating contest, fostering education and awareness about green energy among young farmers.

The sponsorship activities align with our social value strategy within our procurement process, requiring contractors and suppliers to dedicate up to 2% of their resources to initiatives beyond the company’s wind energy parks. Grasshopper, one of the communications agencies supporting Bute Energy, will work with Cantal YFC young members to develop communications templates for the future. This legacy initiative aims to assist future rally hosts in effectively communicating with members and stakeholders.

“It has been great to have the support of Bute Energy in preparation for Rally Day. Our members look forward to engaging with Bute and with Grasshopper, its contracted communications agency, post event in order to build communications strategy templates to help with any future events like this one. Working with Bute Energy has provided significant benefits to the club and to the wider community, and we hope the day will be fun filled for all members and that our rural communities will be enjoy and socialise together.”

Adam Watson, Chairman of Cantal YFC

Radnor YFC, with its 500 members, serves as the backbone of rural communities in Radnorshire, encompassing 13 clubs.  Each club within this network not only competes in  county events and competitions but also engages in their own club’s diverse activities ranging from recreational outings to educational demonstrations. This approach nurtures independence and responsibility among its members, encouraging active participation and leadership.

The rally, which will see participation from all Radnor YFC clubs, is a testament to the vibrancy and community spirit of the YFC movement in Radnorshire. Despite being one of the smaller clubs, Cantal YFC plays a crucial role in promoting youth leadership and engagement within the network. Club activities in the past has allowed organisations like the Samaritans and DPJ Foundation to demonstrate and discuss with Cantal YFC’s members about significant issues showing commitment to holistic youth development, addressing important issues such as mental health.

By sponsoring the Young Farmers Rally, we’re proud to not only support an event that benefits young people living near our proposed projects but also provides opportunities for skills development, education, leadership, and creativity. This sponsorship underscores our commitment to fostering strong community ties and promoting sustainable development in Mid Wales.

We’re committed to understanding what matters most to those communities based closest our energy parks.  That’s why our people take the time to get to know the locals with the aim of identifying projects, people or organisations to support now and in the future.
