Statement: Invitation to Public Meeting 4th December 2025

Bute Energy is developing a programme of onshore wind energy parks across Wales, designed to increase our renewable energy capacity in response to Welsh
Government national targets.

Nant Mithil Energy Park represents an ideal location for onshore wind development.  Part of the site is in a Pre-Assessed Area, and there are no significant limitations on the site which make it unsuitable for the development of onshore wind.

We recognise that infrastructure development represents a significant change to people living locally, and we are committed to ongoing and meaningful engagement to maximise the benefits of the investment for local communities.  Our early site selection is based on robust wind data and assessments of publicly available data on the ecology and geography of the site. This is followed by detailed assessments of the site and surrounding areas. We consider the impact of our proposal from a visual perspective, environmental and ecological perspective, as well as considering the potential local economic and social impacts of the project – such as tourism, including the cumulative impact of other operational and proposed projects in the area.

Following extensive engagement with the community and stakeholders such as Natural Resources Wales and Powys Council, our application for a Development of National Significance was accepted by PEDW on 18 November 2025.  We have conducted significant community engagement for this project, and the development process has been and will continue to be guided by this local engagement.

We’re grateful for the engagement and feedback received, with more than 1,300 engagements with local people. As a result of that feedback, our final design:

• Reduces the number of turbines from 36 to 30.
• Reduces the maximum height of 27 of 30 turbines.
• Repositions several turbines in response to ecological, visual and heritage feedback.

Following the submission of our application and due to the volume of feedback, we have made changes to the FAQs on our website in response, with an
analysis outlined in our application.   The application is now a matter for PEDW, who will run their own public consultation until Tuesday 23 December 2025 and we urge everyone to provide feedback as part of that process.

We regret that we are unable to attend the meeting in person (invitation received from James Evans MS to attend a public event on 4 December 2025) due to the escalation of abuse and threat levels to staff during recent consultation events. The safety of our staff is of utmost importance.
