Welsh Wind Energy Developer Grows Portfolio in Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire

What is Bute Energy planning in Wales?

We’ve just announced very early plans for two onshore wind energy projects: Lan Fawr Energy Park and Bryn Rhudd Energy Park. Together, they could generate enough clean, green power for the equivalent of 254,665 homes across Wales.

These two new projects are part of our overall mission to invest around £3 billion into Welsh onshore wind projects across Wales. By 2030, we’re aiming to generate over 2GW of clean energy, enough to power more than 2.25 million homes.

Where is Lan Fawr Energy Park proposed to be located?

Lan Fawr Energy Park is planned to be around 10km south-east of Tregaron, spanning parts of Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire.

The development could include up to 40 turbines, each reaching a maximum tip height of 220 metres. Once operational, it would generate up to 264MW of renewable electricity.

 

Where is Bryn Rhudd Energy Park proposed to be located?

Early draft plans for the site indicate the park would be located approximately 3km south-east of Tregaron in Ceredigion and 2km north-west of Lan Fawr Energy Park.

The proposal includes up to 15 turbines, also with a maximum tip height of 220 metres. If built, it would generate up to 99MW of clean energy.

How would local communities benefit from these two projects?

Local people will see direct investment through Community Benefit Fund linked to the projects – together, the two Community Benefit Fund pots is estimated at £2.7 million per year over the lifetime of both energy parks.

Our Community Investment team will also create pathways for local employment, access to nature, and support for schools and community facilities to cut energy bills and reduce carbon footprints.

How do I give feedback on Lan Fawr and Bryn Rhudd?

We are not yet officially consulting with the public on these two proposals, but we wanted to share initial plans with residents as early as possible in the process.  When we get to non-statutory consultation, there will be several ways people can have their say including in-person events.
