Consultation Update

In numbers

We wrote to 582 homes and businesses in the local community to introduce the project. We invited communities to attend three local information events to view the plans and illustrative visualisations, and to find out more about our proposals and ask questions of the project team.

There was a good level of local interest in the project and attendance at each of the three events:

  • 161 people attended our three in-person events
  • Consultation advertised in the Powys County Times on 25 January 2024
  • 360 feedback responses were received from stakeholders and local communities
  • 9% of feedback responses were received on paper forms, 12% online feedback forms and 79% by email, telephone or a website contact form
  • 721 unique users visited the project website

Next steps

Finalising land agreements has taken longer than initially anticipated, which has led to a change in our timeline. We are now planning to hold a statutory consultation in the first half of 2026.

In the meantime, we will be working with key stakeholders and the local community to establish a Community Liaison Group. This group will provide an opportunity for Bute Energy to share updates on the project and for any issues to be raised directly with the Esgair Galed Energy Park Project Team.

The statutory consultation will present detailed proposals for Esgair Galed Energy Park, giving local communities and organisations a chance to comment before the application is submitted to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) in 2026.

Full details about the statutory consultation will be published on the Esgair Galed Energy Park website – www.esgairgaledenergypark.wales
