We have been awarded Supply Chain Excellence and named Wales Business of the Year at the Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid Business Awards 2026, recognising our approach to supporting Welsh businesses and building resilient, local supply chains.
The award reflects our focus on engaging suppliers early – ensuring Welsh companies are well positioned to take part in major infrastructure projects as we move into delivery.
This kind of early engagement is central to how our business works – creating clearer pathways for Welsh suppliers to participate, while supporting skills development and long-term economic value within local communities.
We embed local procurement and social value into our projects from the outset, helping ensure the transition to renewable energy delivers lasting benefits for Wales – including jobs, skills and business growth.
Our CEO Martin Chown said:
“We’re incredibly proud to have won both Wales Business of the Year and the Supply Chain Excellence award. These awards reflect the tireless dedication of the Bute Energy team and our commitment to delivering a decarbonised energy system – keeping as much of the investment in Cymru for our people, supply chain and communities.
“We also want to thank our business and third sector partners who are an integral part of Team Bute – we’re proud to work alongside so many brilliant Welsh organisations.”
Alongside initiatives like the Twyn Hywel Meet the Buyer event, we’re strengthening local supply chains through:
Local procurement weighting built into tender processes
A 2% Social Value Standard applied to all contracts
