Sponsorship news!

Bute Energy is proud to be sowing the seeds for a greener future for Montgomeryshire through our exciting new partnership with Montgomery YFC. This collaboration supports young farmers in Montgomeryshire, empowering them with skills and opportunities to shape Wales’ transition to renewable energy and a low-carbon future.

As part of our ongoing efforts to invest in local communities, we’re thrilled to sponsor Montgomery YFC’s core activities, including their highly anticipated February Festival which starts on 24 February – 1 March . This week-long event will showcase the talents of young farmers across Montgomeryshire, bringing the community together to celebrate rural life and local culture.

At Bute Energy, we recognise the importance of investing in the future, especially when it comes to the young people who will shape tomorrow’s Wales. Through this partnership, we’re committed to helping the next generation of farmers develop the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a greener society.

Our sponsorship will provide financial backing for Montgomery YFC’s Youth Forum, a key initiative that gives young members a platform to influence the future of farming and rural life. By engaging with these young voices, we’re ensuring that local communities are at the heart of discussions about renewable energy, wind farms, and the future of Wales’ transition to a low-carbon economy.

“We are grateful to Bute Energy for their sponsorship and support of Montgomery YFC. This partnership allows our members to develop their skills, strengthen community ties, and have a meaningful voice in shaping the future of rural life.”

Marc Griffiths, Chair of Montgomery YFC.

A Sustainable Future for Wales

Bute Energy’s onshore wind energy projects are designed to power over 2.2 million homes, helping Wales achieve its renewable energy targets and combat climate change. But our commitment goes beyond clean energy generation—we’re also dedicated to making a lasting, positive impact on local communities.

If approved, each of our wind farms will include a community grant fund to support new and existing initiatives. This means that groups like Montgomery YFC, along with other local organisations, will benefit directly from our renewable energy proposals. Our goal is to ensure that rural communities not only contribute to Wales’ sustainable future but also prosper as part of it.

Celebrating what’s important to Welsh communities

Montgomery YFC’s February Festival promises to be a fantastic experience and we look forward to a whole 12 months of activities with the membership including education sessions at the club’s Field Days and attending their summer Rally.

One of the aims of this sponsorship is to demonstrate the ways in which we can support the communities closest to our proposed onshore wind energy parks.  By engaging with YFC’s Montgomery’s membership we hope that they can help shape the community grant funding that will be made available to them.  The nearest projects to this club are currently:

Combined, the annual grant funding available from these 4 parks would be over £3m over the lifetime of the turbines.

We wish all those taking part in the February Festival all the best!

Grant funding for you, shaped by you.

We have one of the largest teams dedicated to community engagement amongst energy developers in the UK and, in order to understand for a future grant fund could support local people, our Community Investment team have been working tirelessly to get to know the people who live in the areas closest to our parks.
