Two energy parks near Tregaron open for public consultation.

We’ve launched our first round of public consultation for Lan Fawr and Bryn Rhudd Energy Parks – two proposed projects that are vital steps towards a greener, more secure energy system.

This six-week consultation is an important opportunity for local people, stakeholders, and statutory consultees to help shape our proposals. We’re inviting feedback on every aspect of the projects – from environmental considerations and turbine design to opportunities for community benefit. The consultation will remain open until 18 December 2025 at 23:59.

Together, these two projects could generate enough clean energy to power up to 250,000 homes each year, displacing roughly 360,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.

Lan Fawr Energy Park

Lan Fawr Energy Park is proposed to be located around 10km south-east of Tregaron, sat on the Carmarthenshire–Ceredigion boundary. The current design includes up to 40 wind turbines, each with a maximum tip height of 220m, generating approximately 268MW of renewable electricity.

Bryn Rhudd Energy Park

Just 2km north-west of Lan Fawr, Bryn Rhudd Energy Park would be located around 3km south-east of Tregaron, within Ceredigion. The proposal includes up to 15 turbines with a maximum tip height of 220m, capable of generating around 100.5MW.

Community benefits

If planning permission is granted by Welsh Government, Lan Fawr and Bryn Rhudd Energy Parks will deliver substantial investment in the local area – including an annual Community Benefit Fund of around £2.7million, totalling approximately over a £100million over the operational lifetime of the projects.

This funding will be shaped by local input to support vital services, community initiatives, and long-term economic growth through local jobs and supply chain opportunities.
