Recognition for Twyn Hywel Energy Park at UK Green Business Awards 2025

Twyn Hywel Energy Park has been Highly Commended in the Renewable Energy Project of the Year category at the prestigious UK Green Business Awards 2025.

Recognised alongside some of the UK’s most impactful clean energy initiatives—including projects by Aviva, Enviromena, and Grimsby Community Energy – Twyn Hywel stood out for its contribution to Wales’ transition to net zero.

About Twyn Hywel Energy Park

Located just 2km northwest of Caerphilly in South Wales, Twyn Hywel Energy Park is a major onshore wind energy development that will deliver up to 92.4MW of clean, green energy – enough to power approximately 81,000 households each year. The project includes 14 wind turbines, each with a maximum tip height of 200 metres.

After extensive consultation with communities and stakeholders since 2021, planning approval was granted by Welsh Government in late 2024. Twyn Hywel is currently in the pre-construction phase, with work underway to meet all pre-build requirements including ground investigations led by Terra Firma Wales.

The energy park in south Wales promises to be generating clean, green energy by 2027.

What’s the latest with Twyn Hywel Energy Park?

We’re committed to ensure that as much of the £3bn investment our portfolio represents stays in Wales. We’re making great effort to ensure local suppliers are given the opportunity to offer their services during the construction and operation of Twyn Hywel Energy Park.

While Bute Energy will be contracting with a Tier 1 Contractor for the Major Works packages, there are expected to be opportunities to subcontract to or provide services for the project under the main contractor.
